Abstract
Within Christian faith, the idea of enculturation in mission is an important context for imagining the transmission of religious values, especially in local cultures. Enculturation is one way of presenting the Christian faith. In the history of Christian mission in Indonesia, enculturation has been a possible strategy for missionaries engaged in proselytism in previous centuries. To spread their vision about Christian values, missionaries attended to viewing, observing and learning deeply about the culture of tribal communities in the context of the Javanese people, the Sumbanese, the Karo Batak and other communities
