Abstract
In Mahayana Christian Theology: Thought Experiments of Sino-Christian Theology, Professor Lai Pan Chiu tries to make a new contribution to Sino-Christian theology. All “thought experiments” in this book focus on the fusion of horizons between Buddhism and Christianity. The author uses Mahayana theology to reflect on the methodology of comparative theology, and at the same time, from the perspective of Buddhist teaching, to provide critical reflection on theological topics such as Christianity’s Trinity and the methodology of biblical criticism. It is both an attempt at interreligious dialogue and an effort to expand the directions for Sino-Christian theology. However, since the book is a collection of eight independent lectures, it can hardly be considered as a coherent theological system.
