Abstract
"O presente artigo estimula reflexões bioéticas sobre diversos tipos de avanços tecnocientíficos vivenciados pela humanidade, destacando a invenção das máquinas, as biotecnologias, as terapias gênica e celular e os implantes cerebrais. Relembra que todos os avanços da modernidade preenchem expectativas do ser humano que, confiando na ciência e em suas tecnologias, delas deseja benefícios. Reflexões morais e críticas sobre a perda do limite ético em situações específicas não devem ser confundidas com pensamentos retrógrados ou anticientíficos. O poder da ciência e suas tecnologias não podem ser superiores à liberdade humana de pensar e elaborar analises éticas pertinentes a cada nova descoberta e suas aplicações em humanos. Os avanços da ciência e suas tecnologias são desejados por todos nós, sem o pesadelo das aplicações que atingem as liberdades individuais" ["The present paper calls for bioethics reflections on various scientific and technological advancements experienced by humanity, recalling the invention of machines, biotechnologies, gene and cell therapies, and brain implants. It points that all modern advances fulfill humanity expectations on the trust that some benefic will come for the people. Critics to the lost of ethics limits on specific cases of scientific ant technological advancements should not be confused with retrograde ideas or anti-scientificism. The power of science and its technologies should ever be greater than people’s liberty for thinking and developing critical analysis of each new advance applicable to human. The scientific and technological advances are desired dreams by all of us, without the nightmares of its harm to our individual liberties"]
