Abstract
"Tiene sentido “distraer tiempo” para reflexionar sobre la cultura. La atención no debería estar sólo en los temas económicos duros. Si no incluimos la cuestión de la cultura, difícilmente comprenderemos qué es lo que está pasando con la crisis económica mundial y sus impactos, y qué es lo que puede pasar. Es imprescindible ver qué sucede en las percepciones de las personas, en sus valores, en sus actitudes. La Unesco define la cultura como “maneras de vivir juntos... moldea nuestro pensamiento, nuestra imagen y nuestro comportamiento. La cultura engloba valores, percepciones, imágenes, formas de expresión y de comunicación y muchísimos otros aspectos que definen la identidad de las personas y de las naciones”. Las políticas económicas neoliberales, que causaron tanto daño en los ’90, han sido reemplazadas en muchos países del área, pero los constructos culturales diseminados masivamente para convalidarlas están muy presentes.
