Abstract
Through this article the author presents a profile, which is a general characteristic, portraits, education, outlook on life and everyday lifestyle of ulama in Acehnese society. Actually, ulama of Aceh can be divided into several types and categories:traditional clerics and religious scholars reformer. The following articles concentrates more on the profile of the traditional scholars who are in some ways still monolithic, compared to reformist scholars who aremore varied.
