Abstract
"O primeiro diz respeito à sociedade, em particular àquela em que vivemos. Escusar- me-ei a tomar posição no debate entre os que defendem a realidade objectiva da sociedade como polis, conjunto de comunidades compostas por cidadãos, e aqueles que, na esteira de Durkheim e Max Weber, se recusam a ver na sociedade mais que uma abstracção, uma conveniente figura nocional, um facto da vontade. Não parece necessário chamar à colação o Leviatã hobbesiano, legitimado pelo contrato social, pois o que importa aqui é estabelecer uma premissa da qual se possa partir para um outro tempo, o dedicado à governação" ["The first concerns the society, particularly one in which we live.
