Abstract
"Apesar de ser clara a noção de que Deus comumente se apresenta na Bíblia a partir da figura de um pai que cuida dos seus filhos, há espaço na literatura bíblica para se explorar a imagem de Deus a partir da figura materna. Desse modo, este estudo tem o objetivo de verificar como tal imagem se constrói, investigando a ocorrência do termo šadday, o qual, via de regra, é traduzido por Todo-Poderoso, em relação com o termo šad, cujo significado básico é “seio”. Alguns comentaristas têm apontado o parentesco semântico destas duas palavras, na tentativa de mostrar que as mesmas contribuem para a compreensão de uma Imago Dei que também envolve características femininas" ["Although it is clearly the notion that God commonly presents in the Bible from the figure of a father who takes care of their children, there is room in Biblical literature to explore the image of God from the figure maternal.
