Abstract
This paper attempts to see how the study of hadith runs in the intellectual tradition of NU. NU as a part of the intellectual movement really shows the true identity as a people traditionally conservative. In many life issues, regarding both the socio-cultural and ‘ubudiyyah, NU tends to emphasize the issues on book (fiqh) mu‘tabarah by emphasizing more wajh or qawl which are ready or (applicable) than verses especially hadith for practical reasons. But this does not mean that residents of NU take hadith without selections as a foothold. The study of hadith Nahdliyyin has a review Center, namely the Pesantren of Tebuireng pioneered by Hasyim Ash’ari. But its development has not been getting venue proportionately. In many respects, the attitude of the House of Nahdliyyin to the hadith shows that intellectual tradition which needs to get attention the hadith from the sanad aspect even though the hadith used is valid (sahih), except individually the basis is derived from the citizens of NU. Even NU was impressed to put the contents and final destination. This attitude correlates with views in NU that follow the opinion of the ulama (in the sense of ittiba‘ not taqlid) sourced from the more dominant book of mu‘tabarah than the use of the hadith as activities references of problem solving, social, and religion.
