Abstract
"En cuidados paliativos se atienden pacientes con patologías avanzadas. El objetivo principal es conseguir ese bienestar del paciente y su familia, con todos los medios y recursos disponibles. En esta situación, la toma de decisiones puede ser difícil. Para ello la bioética con el análisis pormenorizado de cada situación concreta, fundamentada en la buena praxis, y manteniendo el respeto a la dignidad esencial de la persona humana, orienta para que la actuación sea lo más acertada posible. La situación que viven los pacientes es singular. Hay que saber adaptarse a cada una de sus necesidades, motivaciones, deseos y situaciones concretas vividas. Conviene detectar y potenciar los propios recursos y gustos del enfermo con el fin de disminuir su sensación de deterioro, pérdida funcional, capacidades intelectuales,… Todo ello puede aumentar el sufrimiento en el paciente y sus familias. Fomentar la participación en el control de la situación y los síntomas favorece el bienestar del paciente. Cuidar a estos pacientes exige una preparación especializada para responder hasta los más pequeños detalles, que facilitarán alcanzar el final lo más apaciblemente posible. Se tendrá en cuenta la alta cualificación, con conocimientos basados en los estudios científicos y en la formación continua a través de investigaciones que constaten los beneficios de nuestras actuaciones. Pero también las idóneas condiciones personales de sensibilidad, servicio, respuesta amable, capacidad de empatía y apoyo a los problemas que plantee el enfermo y la familia". The main goal of palliative care is to get well-being to patient and his family with all available means and resources.In this situation, decision making can be difficult. Bioethics with a detailed analysis of each situation, based on good practice, and maintaining respect for the essential dignity of the human person, action oriented to be as accurate as possible. The situation faced by patients is unique. We must learn to adapt to each of their needs, motivations, desires and situations experienced. It should detect and enhance their own resources and patient´s preferences in order to decrease their sense of impairment, functional loss, intellectual capacity; this can increase the suffering of patients and their families. We should try to encourage participation in the control of the situation and symptoms, promotes patient comfort. Caring for these patients requires a specialized training to respond to qualified small details that will facilitate reaching the end as peacefully as possible. It´s necessary we take into account the high qualification, knowledge based on scientific studies and continuing education through research to generate the benefits of our actions. But the best personal qualities of sensitivity, service, polite response, empathy and support issues raised by the patient and family".]
