Abstract
"In any discussion about the status· and role of women within the Christian Church, Paul's statement in I Corinthians 11.3 is bound to be a storm-centre. The text, as translated by the New English Bible, reads: But I wish you to understand that, while every· man has Christ for his Head, woman's head is man, as Christ's Head is God."
