Abstract
This article tries to discuss some aspects of Gorontalo Kingdom, especially government systems. The author states that in the past Gorontalo Kingdom practiced democracy in the government system which was different with other Islamic kingdoms such as in Java. This characteristic is important for Gorontalo Society today in the context of national character building.
