Abstract
Degradation of river waters is a phenomenon that has an impact on people's welfare due to the behavior of people who careless about the environment. Environmental damage in Cisarua River Bogor Regency occurs due to an increase in the disposal of domestic waste of the community around the river. This study aims to determine the spatial distribution of settlements that have the potential to cause environmental damage, determine the type and level of damage to river waters due to domestic waste disposal, and formulate environmental management strategies to preserve the function of the Cisarua River. This research used survey method as a tool of data collection were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The data used are primary (water quality, presence of aquatic biota-vegetation, and social data) and secondary data (RBI map, administration map, river flow map, and high-resolution image SPOT 6 researh area). Abiotic aspect reviewed from status of quality water by pollution index, biotic aspect reviewed from observations availability of plant and aquatic biota, and cultural aspect review using indepth interview methods. Sampling was done at 6 samples points spread from up-steam to down-stream river based the river branching and land use. Analysis of distribution settlement was done by SPOT 6 interpretation in Cisarua Sub-district in 2017, identification the type of environmental damage was done by observation of the third environmental component, analysis of environmental damage in Cisarua River was done by pollution index method and people’s perception. Combination of all result used to formulate the environmental management strategies. The result of distribution settlement showed the presence of dense settlement patterns were centralized on the territory of Alun-alun to Cidokom with a high garbage. Status of the river belongs to the categories in Cisarua polluted medium with the highest Pollution Index value of 8.59. The results of the analysis indicate that damage the public perception of the river waters due to lack of awareness and lack of availability of land for waste processing. Strategies and Policies needed for environmental management include optimization of recovery and control of water quality, provide the trash bins and 3R based waste processing land, socialization domestic waste treatment, construction of communal WWTPs, and coordination between government, private sector and community to conserve the aquatic environmental Cisarua River.
