Abstract
"El autor ha seleccionado para titular su obra un verso del Antiguo Testamento, del conocido como II Isaías (43,2), texto que se enmarca en el período en que el pueblo judío se encuentra en el exilio babilónico, y en el que los profetas realizan una función pastoral de animar al pueblo a pensar en un futuro retorno a la tierra prometida. “Cuando pasares por las aguas estas no te anegarán, si por el fuego este no te quemará, porque yo estaré contigo”, son palabras de confianza, de seguridad para aquellos que enfrentaban un nuevo éxodo hacia la tierra prometida, para aquellos que vivirían nuevamente en su historia el desierto, la incertidumbre y el desaliento. El libro del reverendo Raúl Suárez es la historia de otro peregrinaje en el que también hay conmovedores relatos de desiertos y mares turbulentos. Es un testimonio biográfico que transcurre en diversos escenarios. Cual policromado mosaico, nos introduce en diferentes ambientes, desde el del típico hogar campesino pobre de los años cincuenta, colmado de vicisitudes, a los de las clases del seminario bautista, las aulas universitarias, las arenas de Playa Girón y, por último, el púlpito de una iglesia evangélica" ["The author has chosen to call his work a verse from the Old Testament, known as the II Isaiah (43.2), text that is part of the period in which the Jewish people is found in the Babylonian exile, and in the prophets perform a pastoral role to encourage people to think of a future return to the promised land. The book of the Rev. Raul Suarez is the story of another pilgrimage in which there are moving accounts of deserts and turbulent seas. It is a biographical testimony set in various scenarios. What polychrome mosaic, introduces us to different environments, from the home of the typical poor peasant fifties, full of vicissitudes, the class of the Baptist seminary, university classrooms, the sands of Playa Girón, and finally, the pulpit of an evangelical church"]
