Abstract
One of the signs of our time is that man's constantly increasing potentialities not only help to make human life easier but at the same time threaten its basis and its dignity. This is being felt more and more by the public at large. In this situation the churches see themselves challenged to make a common contribution towards thinking about this contradiction between success and danger - a contribution which also does not leave out of consideration politically controversial questions.
