O interesse crescente da comunidade científica pelos temas das neurociências tem-se traduzido, nos últimos anos, por um igualmente crescente interesse por parte da opinião pública. Os progressos nesta área consistem essencialmente num conhecimento mais profundo do modo de funcionamento do cérebro e das relações entre os fenómenos mentais e as suas bases biológicas.
