Abstract
The paper explores the existence of "pesantren" or Islamic boarding schools as an Islamic institution having an important role to facilitate the educational process of Islamic thought on the one hand and defend Islamic faith from some external forces containing negative values. Here, the author discusses more about the idea of pluralism which is said as a non Islamic values which should be seen carefully. Here, Islamic boarding school can be seen as the key player in dealing with for examples, liberalism and religious pluralism.
