Abstract
"Esta propuesta de un nuevo humanismo para el siglo XXI se fundamenta en dos influyentes tradiciones del humanismo moderno: la escocesa (Adam Smith) y la alemana (Kant). Mientras la primera se caracteriza por la incorporación de los sentimientos – en especial el de la simpatía – en la configuración de la razón moderna, aunada al estudio de la emergente actividad económica en el contexto de la ética social anclada en la idea de individuo; la segunda representa el punto de vista del universalismo moral, que considera al hombre como un fin en sí mismo, a la buena voluntad como fundamento moral de la auténtica humanidad y a la dignidad humana como valor incondicionado. Desde ahí surge el humanismo hermenéutico conectado con la ética de la responsabilidad e insertado en un comunitarismo postconvencional, capaz de superar a los contextualismos que, por sí solos, no hacen más que producir diversas formas de exclusión" ["This proposal of a new humanism for the 21.st Century is based in two influential traditions of modern humanism: the Scottish (Adam Smith) and the German (Kant). The first one is characterized by the incorporation of feelings – especially sympathy – in the configuration of modern reasoning, associated to the study of the emerging economic activity in the context of social ethics anchored in the idea of individual; and the second one represents the point of view of moral universalism, which considers: human being as an end itself; good will as moral foundation of authentic humanity; and human dignity as an unconditional value. Since then, emerges hermeneutic humanism, connected to the ethics of responsibility and inserted in a post-conventional communitarism, capable of surpassing contextualisms that, themselves, do not do more than producing several forms of exclusion"]
